History of Margáin & Asociados.

Founded by Guillermo Margáin González, C.P.A. in 1955 at the request of Tequila producers and the newly formed Chamber of the Tequila Industry, to support the industry in all legal and administrative procedures, mainly before the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP), where they constantly faced problems with the payment of the alcohol tax.
Margain y Asociados became a key player in resolving issues and safeguarding the interests of the Tequila industry.
From then until today, Margain y Asociados has provided regulatory and tax management services for the Tequila industry, as well as Industrial Property advice.
Our founder
Don Guillermo Margáin González was a Certified Public Accountant who graduated from the Instituto Politécnico Nacional. In 1938 he began his career at the Ministry of Finance (SHCP), rising to Head of the Stamp Tax Department, the office where taxes were paid in those years.
From 1955 to 1980, Mr. Guillermo Margáin González served as a member of the SHCP Technical Board for Alcohol Assessment, where the special taxes for the sugar, alcohol, spirits and alcoholic beverage bottling industries were determined. For 25 years the interests of all alcoholic beverage manufacturers were protected, until the repeal of the alcohol law and the publication of the Special Tax on Production and Services Law in 1980.
He received the title of Honorary Doctor of Law from the Escuela Libre de Derecho, as well as several awards and honors for his contributions in legal and tax matters.
He passed the firm on to his son, Luis Ernesto Margáin Sainz. Don Guillermo died in 1990 at the age of 85, retired in the city of Mérida, Yucatán.
